Default Need a new muffler

I have a 1999 dodge dakota 5.2L v8 and I would like a new muffler. I'm looking at a charry bomb glassback but dont no the specs of my muffler now. I called pep boys and they said inlet outlet is 3 inch but i also called autozone and they said 2.5 for both.. Anyone know what size?

for the 4.7 its 2.5. but it doesnt really matter if your just replacing the muffler. a good muffler shop will have connectors that will fit a 2.5 into a 3. and imo glasspacks sound like crap. but thats up to you to decide.

a 14in glasspack is going to sound pretty throaty and deep. I have one on my 4.7 and the guy welded it up for 50 bucks at the muffler shop.

it all depends like on a 4.7 a flowmaster or glasspack sounds good but on a 5.2 a magnaflow or a dynomax I have magnaflow on my truck and it sounds good Pipe is 2.5in both sides. This is from a year ago ill have to get a new one

I got whole system off ebay for 325.00 shipped thats dual piping,14in magnaflow muffler,2 3.5 chrome tips and all the hardware and hangers

Personally I hate glasspacks, they just sound awful.

You can find knockoff 40 series flowmasters for $35-$40 everywhere these days that are equal in construction and quality to the "real" thing.

My favorite muffler is still the Aero Turbine, but at $125, It's way outside your budget (but worth every penny).

Screw mufflers. Let that American *** v-8 be heard, straight pipe, thats what I do on my Ram. There is enough of those hippie honda and hybrid people out there.
