Default Remote Start/Alarm... starting Randomly?

Okay, so here's the deal I have an Alarm that came with my truck...
It's a Clarion Ungo, but I don't know what model.

I'm assume either the SR5000 or SR6000 based on the pictures at the clarion site...

Anyway, last night, around 3am the truck started... completely out of the blue.
and then again this morning around 6:50 it did it again.

I'm just curious if anyone else has this alarm, and if they ever experienced this situation with the damn thing.

cause it's bloody frustrating.

I've disabled the remote start feature for now; I don't use it anyway, but winter will be here soon enough.

As crazy as this sound, if something else is on the same frequency you truck will start. Such as your neighbor opening their garage door. If the opener has the same frequency, when they open there door, they will also start your truck.

It happened to a co-worker. He woke up one morning and his truck was running in the driveway. Come to find out, everytime his neighbor opened their garage, his truck would start. So it might not be a garage door opener, but it could be something else on the same frequency.

Sounds reasonable, and I thought about that one too.
It's got a ridiculous range so anything is possible.

it wasn't in the drive way last night when it started, it was down the road a bit because I couldn't drop the trailer I'm borrowing. Stupid trailer doesn't have a jack stand, and it was half full of wood. I drive way barely fits my truck as it is.

such a pain.

Thanks for the help. Appreciate it.

I know those things can have quite the range. A kid at school used to have one on his ram and could start it several hundred yards away.

a lot of remote starters have a timer in them to start every so often. 3 or 4 hours. you may have accidentally put it in that timer mode and didnt know it. most units will exit the timer mode when you do a key takeover or push the brake.

I've fallen victim to this myself with my Python system. Check the manual for your remote start/security if you have it and see if it mentions timed start, on mine there was a certain button sequence to disable it.

one other thing besides the timer on some starters they have a water temp feature when the engine gets below a temp it will start up for those of us where it gets real cold but you need the manual and look at all the fuctions
