Sometimes with these vehicles I believe you can get away with only bleeding the fronts if you didn't touch the backs because of the way that the lines run into the master cylinder. The front and rear are independent and have their own connections to the master cylinder.

Correct - you only need to bleed the side you open. In this case though he replaced all lines on the truck - so the full monty was needed.
