Default Topper brake light works, truck brake lights don't

The brake lights on my truck aren't working, but the one on my topper is. I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with a fiberglass topper. Headlights work, turn signals work, tail lights work, and the brake bulbs and fuses checked out okay.

I don't think it's the brake switch on the pedal, because then the brake light on the topper wouldn't be working, right?

I haven't done any recent electrical work on the truck, this just happened out of the blue. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Thanks in advance,
Charles

How is the topper wired in? I'm willing to bet the factory wire broke at the trailer-tap connector.
