Question cab swap

i have a 97 dakota sport 5.2 a semi forced me in to the guard rail and now im picking up an 01 same color for parts but its a V6 can i do the cab swap with the full interior?
will all of the connectors work airbags, everything

also the 01 has push button 4WD and my 97 has the manual 4WD shifter

both trucks are automatic trans (sadly)

will that cab work on my frame what will have to be done!

please give me any insight on my project

Cab swaps have been discussed on here before and as far as I know they're a ton of work and are very difficult to do. I would look into swapping the motors first.

It can be done but I would only do it where you have the room to do it like a big garage and lots of tools cause a swap like that is not a weekend swap. How the hell did he bend the frame?? that would have to be one hell of a hard hit. He must of been jumping it.

ok so it can be done but will the 01 v6 transfer case match up to my 97 v8 trans?
and
the harness for the 01 will now be in my truck with the v8 am i better off splicing in for the 2 extra injectors? or re running my stock 97 wiring harness? which computer should i use? the only difference in the harnesses i can see is the 2 extra injectors

How the hell did he bend the frame??
he said he slid off the road and the cross member hit a rock the body shop said its not worth fixing
no im saying buy the new truck and swap in the v8
i have the 5.2 in the good frame my original frame already

ehhh. this is a tuffy. I'm not sure what all changed in 2000. You might be better off splicing the extra 2 injectors to the V6 computer, but it depends on how different the cab wiring is. If one is all electric and one is all manual, then yea, you're probably gonna need a paddle to get up that creek. It's hard to say for sure0

the 91 is manual 4wd and the 01 is push button
if i swap the cabs i could in theory rip out the push button set up and leave the shifter because its the same cab then i wound have to worry about the transfer case matching my trans

as far as I'm aware of, your 5.2 will have the 44RE, the V6 has the 42RE. exact same case. So you shouldnt have any problems there. That said, the electronic computer will be looking for a signal off that rotary switch, and if you have the mechanical t-case, the switch won't be there. You'll probably end up with an engine light. That said, you can do a transfer case swap so that the Tcase and body stay together..maybe. It just all depends on how the wiring is ran.

so as long as i keep the electronic tcase with the 01 body i should be good? if thats the case will that transfer case bolt up to my trans its coming off a v6
