Check Engine Light Came On Then Turned Off
I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport and the check engine light came on (not flashing). Naturally, I get it hooked up to a CPU and a code for the torque control came up. So I am told I need to replace the torque control; while waiting for the part to come in and get the truck serviced, the light goes off. I never noticed a difference in my vehicle between the light on/off...wonder if anyone else has had this happen before and if anyone thinks I should get service done anyway? Thanks.
could just be a fluke.
clear the code and wait and watch the light to see if it comes back on.
pay close attention to the shift points and gas mileage.
even if you don't get the light every couple of days take to advance, auto zone and such to have them check to see if code comes back.
hope this helps

Turn the ignition on then off 3 times - the code stored on the computer (it will be stored there even though the light went off) will display - could be any number of components - not all will leave the light on -
true, true midget-farms
off and on (not start) 3 times within 5 seconds
if digital OD will give code on display a code of 55 is all OK and 12 is battery disconnected within last 50 starts. if CEL it will flash code.
