I have an 01 3.9 4X2 Dakota Quad Cab with 110,000 miles and today it started to lose power and backfire through the intake a few times. Any ideas? Thanks.

 

Bad timing or incorrect wire positions. I will move this to the 2nd Generation Dakota sub forum.

 

It definately sounds like an ignition or valvetrain issue. I've only had mine scream through the intake once, and that was from a partial start (releasing the starter too early). You might start at the distributor and see if something got crossed?
