Default Cherrybomb or flowmaster...

Hi, first off I have an 02 SXT Club Cab (3.9 2wd), and am looking into a different exhaust. The problem is I don't want to spend the money to replace the whole exhaust. I have been looking and found a few cherrybomb glass packs for around 35 bucks and flowmaster 40 series for around 60 or 65. My question is would it be possible to simply take the old muffler (still stock to my knowledge) off? It isn't rusted badly either. Has anyone done this? What size muffler (in, out, and overall length) did you buy? I measured mine to 2.5" or 2.75", I don't remember I have to measure again, just want to make sure I'm in the ballpark. Thanks

Is it 2.5 both in and out? If you have one, how loud is it? I want it loud. Or as loud as a 3.9 could get (without straight pipes) haha. Thanks for the fast reply

I think I'm going to go with the glasspack for now and when I need a full exhaust or have enough money I'll get a flowmaster on there. Thanks

Yeah, thanks for the input... I actually ended up going with neither. I ordered a magnaflow the other day (got a little side tracked with fog lights and other things since I asked), just waiting for it to arrive. It was between the flowmaster and magnaflow because the cherry bomb would not last. I picked magnaflow pretty much because it is stainless, and was the same price as a flowmaster.
