I am not sure I have this right, are you planning on buying a tru trac and new gears or just new gears?
I would say the easiest route would be to look for a local Pick N Pull. find the axle you want 3.92 with LSD.
Or buy a Tru trac, and the new 3.92 gears with master install kit. this tool for the adjusters http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=330365537665
(I was able to use a small punch in the case spreader holes to turn the preload adjusters, but it was a PITA)
And a micrometer to measure thousanths of an inch movement, as well as a bearing press. your old pinion bearing(if it didnt break, or a new one if it did) needs to be ground out to the point where it takes little effort to move it off the pinion. and about two days to do the work.
This is required for changing gears cause you will need to change the shims. Also remember that your ring gear bolts are reverse threaded!
Also send me a PM when you decide to do this and I will do my best to help.
