Default Power Steering?

2004 V8 Quad cab with tow package 2wd.

My power steering has been "funny" as of late. Fluid level seems ok. Its like the PS is intermittant. Anyone experience this before. When turning the wheel its like it has "hard" and "Soft" (normal) spots. Always seems to be in the same places as far as how the wheel is turned. Could power steering pump be fading in and out? No belt squeaking so Im guessing no slipping on the pump pulley. May add some fluid but no recent work that would cause air in the line and no leaks are evident.

Better after she warms up it seems........mornings have been around 35-40 around here last week or so...Upstate NY......

Any ideas? Thank you.

Had the same problem on my 2004, open the hood and take a look at the steering shaft and follow it down, you will see a joint where the angle changes, spray it good with a lubricant. This will free it up, every month or so I re-spray mine and it keeps it turning smooth.
