Strange related (or not) issues and trans temp
Funny and strange thing happened to my Dakota. Last week I noticed the radiator was leaking antifreeze. So, I changed the Radiator with a new one, and all went well. Then, yesterday the wife was driving the truck and I get that dreaded phone call, "The truck won't really move, it is stuck in first gear won't shift, help help help!"
So, the first thing I think is oh crap some how one of the trans cooler lines got a leak and I lost fluid. Well, I got there and checked the trans fluid level, and it has plenty of fluid in it. So, I was slightly confused. The truck would shift into gear plenty hard, and it did move, so I thought it must be something else and I was less than a mile from home. So, I just drove it home.
When I got home, the transmission fluid wasn't badly burnt, but it was burnt and it wasn't like that the day before when I finished up the radiator swap. (I did check the trans fluid level after changing the radiator.)
So I pulled the codes and it said the TPS signal didn't match the MAP sensor, so I checked the TPS voltage, and sure enough it was stuck at 3 volts. Changed the TPS, and all seems well.
My question is, basically in limp home mode going right around a mile how could that have burnt the transmission fluid? Should I be concerned about something else going on that was hidden by the freak TPS issue?
I have a transmission temperature gauge kit, just never got around to installing it. Anyone know what size the transmission line going to the cooler is? This issue has got me fairly motivated to get it installed.
Sorry for the long winded post, just wanted to describe the way strange things pilled up on one another. Any thoughts?

So I talked to a few shops today, and they said they didn't think there was any way that sensor failure could cause transmission issues. They also said ATF+4 smells funny on its own compared to ATF+3. So, I guess I am hopefully ok.
Anyone know what size the line coming out of the transmission is? I would like to get some fittings so I can put a tee in for my trans temp sensor.
Thanks.
