Default Heater control Valve?

I have a 1997 dakota with a 6 cyl. I'm trying to find the heater control valve. the one that opens when you turn the temp select to hot or heat.
I've traced both heater core hoses to the firewall. Is this valve inside the cab behind the dash?

yes, but if you have trouble with no heat try flushing the heater core first.

flush with water and compressed air then backflush with the same.

be careful

If you mean a valve that shuts off coolant flow to the heater core- it doesn't have one. The heater core is fed coolant constantly. At least in my 02 3.9 V6 it is. I installed a ball valve in the heater inlet hose under the hood on my truck.
