I guess I do pretty good then because it's 230 miles to school and I always have 3/8s of a tank left.

And just to bust your ***** ramguy but you said you get 130 on half a tank but the most you ever got was 250 on an entire tank... doesn't quite add up lol.

I'm the same way. I'll get like 135-140 on half a tank and be like, yay, a good mileage tank. Then the trap door opens that last half a tank.

I don't think it helps that when you fill up the tank, it goes way past full on the gas gauge. Like 4 or 5 gallons past full. So it takes awhile for it to get down to where you actually notice it starting to fall.

yeah i hate that. most i drove was 300miles i had a litte left in the tank but i didnt want to risk it so i filled up.

normally just driving to work i get like 210 or something. plus when its cold and doesn't warm up all the way it just dumps fuel like crazy.

on some days, it takes mine 10 miles on the highway to come off of the cold peg. But yea, the full peg actually being like 3/4 tank doesnt help either.Dodge's fuel guages are all kinds of funky, you have a 3 gallon overhead and a 2 gallon reserve..lol.

When gas hit $4 a gallon, I drove very easy. If I remember, my goal was to not get the tack past 2000 RPM! I have the 3.9/5 speed combo in my Dakota, so I would take it out of gear and let it coast for half a block before the next light (blocks are twice the length of normal block where I live). I also learned how to time the lights in my neighborhood, so I would typically not have to stop again after the 1st light I hit red. My combined city/highway miles were about 20 one way to work, and 5 of that was in the city. I set cruise control to 58 mph in a 65 zone when a lot of people were doing 70 or more. I would also let it coast downhill, and as soon as exiting the freeway. I would annoy other drivers at times, but I actually found it to be peaceful after getting used to it because I rarely had to pay attention because there were never any cars in front of me that were slower than me.

The big benefit was I typically got 19-20 mpg in the summer. Gas prices started going back down before the switch to winter gas, so I stopped checking my mileage.

Tell us the MPG, mile per tank is a useless measurement.

The injectors shut off during engine braking, you aren't using any gas.

Cause normally on half a tank I take it easy since I only have half a tank then on a full tank I run it a bit harder since I have more gas.

I've been tracking my tanks. Last fill (Friday 12/10) was 245 miles on 19.0 gallons, with a spark plug change at half tank.

03/24/10 17.31 gallongs (no mileage)
06/04/10 17.67 gallons (no mileage)
09/12/10 17.00 gallons (no mileage)
09/22/10 16.67 gallons (235 miles) = 14.1
10/15/10 23.56 gallons (320 miles) (a top off and a fill up combined) = 13.6
11/04/10 16.781 gallons (no mileage)
11/14/10 17.019 gallons (225 miles) = 13.2
11/23/10 18.013 gallons (250 miles) = 13.9
12/02/10 18.365 gallons (253 miles) = 13.8
12/10/10 19.00 gallons (245 miles) = 12.9
