Default engine wont run..

hi. i just finished swapping a 5.2 into my 97 dakota and it starts and runs for about 2-3 seconds and i started it like 20-30 times and always the same i can rev it up but it dies quickly.
The car stood outside for a year of hard winter and summer without the engine and a emty fueltank but all hoses and fuel lines vere sealed.
Im thinking it could be dirt in the fuel tank/lines or maybe the fuel pump but not sure.
any ideas what it can be?

thanks.

The problem is the anti theft system. Put your key in the passenger side door lock and turn it to unlock 2 or times and then try to start it. Should fire right up.

If it were bad gas or moisture in the fuel the truck would start and run real rough, or not start at all.
