loud medal clicking

Default loud medal clicking

OK guys just bought an 02 Dakota 4.7 quad it only had 140,000 when i bought it a month ago and now there is a loud medal clicking while diving and in gear happening under the front of the truck.... any ideas got a few ideas myself going to look on tuesday to see if the u joints are bad then im gonna check the transfer case fluid

Axle maybe?Mines been clicking every now and then when you turn the wheel all the way.

i know there was a metal plate/ guard on the auto trans that there is actually an update for that can cause a metal clicking sound... happened to my buddy but usually only when we were muddin....

Possibly bearings could be shot. Sounded like mine was coming from driver side front but i jacked up the truck and the passenger wheel was wobbling like crazy. made a really loud sporadic metal breaking sound. check out those out possibly

another thing that could be happening is the cv shafts can do weird things when they go out...

Turns out my noise was coming from a shot hub assembly.
