If I were you, I would consult a professinal shop to do the work. You do retain the 4wd system, basically it will gain , lift, articulation, and strength. You can have it set up to run coils in the front or leaf springs, whichever you prefer, although I would suggest coils, as they offer a nicer ride on the street. The only thing that limits what goes into a SAS is your wallet, all depends on how much you want to spend.

My buddy has soild axles with coils in his ram with a 6 in lift and 35's and its nice off road. It has some good flex too.

Default suspension lifts

chassis tech offers a 4.5 and a 6 inch suspension lift for your truck although not to many people seem to know much about it . ??
