hey there..i have a 99 dakota with a 3.9 and i have a 94 5.2 that i want to put in...my 99 is all rebuilt but can't seem to get it to run rite..had 2 garages look at it and they dont know so i bought a 94 jeep for parts for my wifes 95 and i have a good 5.2 in it that i want to put in...anyone with any info on doing this and what i need to know before i start would help alot..thanks...chris

 

My suggestion would be to do a search, as there are tons and tons of threads about engine swaps. Also, swapping in a 5.2 and 5.9 are practically the same thing, so look for those threads as well. You will need the motor, a computer for your dakota, that has the same options and motor yours has, or have yours reflashed for those options. If you have the 42RE traanny, it will need to be replaced by atleast the 44RE, and you will need to wire in the other 2 injectors, or get a wiring harness from a dakota that came with the 5.2 and use it.
