Default Dakota Newbie | Few Questions before buying one

Alright so im looking for my second truck ive Decided to go for a Dodge Dakota 98 - 02 possibly is what i hope to find preferably singlecab,v6

Basically i am wanting to know what you guys prefer to run for your Engine Oil / Filter

I have always used fram (93 Chevy, 2000 Kia 4x4 Sportage)

And as of late i took the last one apart and compared it to a few others and well it looked very cheap

So i am leaning twards a mopar oil filter possibly

As far as the engine oil in general i have always used 10w30 Castrol High mileage but am hearing very good things about Purple Royal engine oil

Could i get any feedback and or suggestions on this ?

I use Mobil 1 in most of my vehicles, I love that stuff. I also like the K&N oil filters, they are a bit pricey, but they have a large hex (1 inch i think) nut on the end of em, which makes em real easy to take off (which helps since the filter is not in the easiest to reach location). My buddy who manages Advance Auto is not a big fan of fram, and used to give me crap for using them. But my oil changes usually end up costing me about $40, so to each his own.

Mopar filter and vavoline 10w-30 synblend costs me 22 at wally world. I will only ever use vavoline long story but learned about it in votech. I've mentioned this lots of time but everyone says dont use fram but almost every vehicle we own has one. Our last jeep and 95 grand cherokee had a fram on it every single oil change today its still running with 216,000 miles and right now I have a frame filter on it lol

I use Quaker State 10W30 Advanced Durability conventional and I use a Purolator Classic L14670 filter. The Mopar filters they sell at Walmart are also made by Purolator. I have just over 141,100 miles on my truck now and I always change my oil and filter at every 3,000 miles. I do not care for Fram oil filters, there are too many other brands that are better filters available for the same or less money. Fram air filters are OK though.

For more info on oil and filters than you could ever read in one lifetime, check out www.bobistheoilguy.com.

Right now Valvoline in 89, M-1 in 94, Filters, Do not like Any off brand fram included. Vehicles are my passion, not my job and I have seen more failures from fram across the board than any others. Also have had filter failures from the cheap ones low end oil changes bring. Just tore a Stp apart, junk! Glued paper ends and part had come loose in 1500 miles. Now have mopar on it. Purolator is good. There is one filter out there is the best but you have to order them by the case. Look for my post on all of us getting togethor and using them.
