Old School Tricks
Just remembered another 'old school' trick. When it comes to cleaning chrome that has built up gunk such as chrome wheels that have been neglected or has the 'brake dust' disease that no cleaner will seem to remove, I will use a SOS or Brillo soap pad. Great also if you have those little rust specks that shows up on the chrome from time to time.
Wet the chrome surface and the soap pad and go to it. The soap in the pad will keep the steel wool from scratching the chrome and will bring the shine back to 'almost' new. After cleaning, wash, rinse, dry and apply a good coat of wax. You will be amazed at the difference.
CAUTION: THIS 'OLD SCHOOL' TRICK IS FOR CLEANING CHROME ONLY!!! DO NOT USE THIS CLEANING METHOD ON ANY TYPE OF ALUMINUM AS IT WILL LEAVE SOME SERIOUS SCRATCHES!!!!

I remember my first truck, 81' F-100 Single Cab Long wheel base.. rebuilt tyranny with a blown 302... went to Precision and bought a 84' 5.0 HO long block.. dad helped me stab the tranny, after that it was all on me..
I must admit, to forgo the benefits of EFI, for ability to actually work and fix with out spending tons of money... sure worth it.. I'd take my old carb setup over this electric nightmare any day.

I was watching Barret Jackson the other night, and man, do I wish I couldve seen some of those cars roll off the line back in the day. Those cars were big, powerful, and had some unique and eye catching designs.
Now all that matters is MPG and crash test ratings ..... and most require that you loose your "man card"

I still prefer the old school cars. They had more style. Now they all look the same. My '59 Pontiac I had before the GTO. All emblems/names removed, lowered, lake pipes, tube grill, Buick Wildcat wheels, 389 cu in, 45 rpm record player under dash w/reverb speakers.

My son's car. Lowered, shaved door handles, lakes, pleated interior, Flamethrowers, built 390.

Looks like a '60 or '61 Falcon in the backgound of your first pic of that beautiful '59. My first car was a '60 Falcon with the little blue 6 cyl engine automatic. Damn think wouldn't fall out of a tree by itself!!
