Default Trasnsmission troubles revisited

Was having the common 2nd to 3rd upshift problem (44re). After reading a thread on automatic transmissions on the Dodge forum, I ran across a question for the trans tech that was answering questions. Very bad slipping when cold going from 2 to 3. The tech's answer was the bands needed adjusting or the foreward clutches were going bad.

I did the trans filter change/adjust both bands and it is noticably better. Not perfect, but 90% better. My wife can even tell the difference.

Doing this is recommended in the owners manual as a regular 37,000 mile service. I doubt that mine (86,000 mi.) was ever done. I know it was not done at 74,000 as the truck had 65,000 when I bought it.

Hopefully, I can keep it on the road for a few more years before the trans is toast.
