Default ticking/rattling during acceleration

I own a 99 Dakota 2wd with a manual tranny that rattles during acceleration. Has anyone else experienced this? The rattling occurs at 2000rpms +. I'm thinking it could be related to excessive wear of the drivetrain/transmission. Any help?

Make sure the rattle is not coming from something broken loose in the exhaust system....I have seen many times rattles coming from catalytic converters and or mufflers.....Also a good idea to make sure all mounts are good.....
