I have a 2002 Dakota 4x4 5 spd manual standard cab short bed. I have been looking through a lot of posts on here from people who have done body lifts. I was just wondering if it is worth doing a 3 inch body lift with larger tires. It doesn't seem very difficult to do the lift, but any tips would be very much appreciated. I plan on ordering the lift soon. Also, 33x10.50xr15 tires with black cragar soft eights 15x8. I was wondering what is the best tire for our trucks with peoples previous experiences. I want something that looks good, kinda meaty but still something that won't kill my wallet. Thanks for looking.

 

You are going to get a lot of opinions on tires from on here but personally my 4 fav are bfg a/t's,wrangler mtr,cooper discoverer st and the stt version.

 

I went with the same Idea you did actually, BL and 33x12.50x15. I ran Firestone M/T Destinations, found they ran pretty well for me. Great wear but mostly an offroad tire, Terrible on ice TERRIBLE.

The body lift is farily easy install, I had a friend help me along with it because its time consuming. p.s, that fan shroud Might give you problems, I riped mine completly off. lol

i will personally never buy any tire but BFG and i like the all-terrain, AMAZING wear they last for soo long and great traction on everything

 

Anytire besides an M/T tire does well on ice... Its like driving around on hockey pucks, those M/T's are sh*t on ice.. Once you starts sliding it's it, game over. maisewell just hope for the best, Ride the curb or something...

 

alright, i appreciate everyones information. I was looking into it some more, a friend down the road did 2 inch blocks in the rear and cranked his torsion bolts 2.5 inches in the front to make it sit level. Would this be too much if I did the 2 inch blocks, got new keys and cranked them the 2.5 inches and did the 3 inch body lift?

 

To level truck you dont need blocks in the back. I cranked my bars and my truck sits level.

 

Yeah thats true. I just meant if I wanted to add a little extra lift in the rear is all. Do you think it would be too much to do the 3 inch body lift with 2 inch blocks in the rear and crank the torsion keys 2.5 inches? It'll be about 6.5 inches total lift in the rear with the tires being larger than stock.
