Cold Air Intake Questions for Custom Mod-Coming soon
this is the one my truck had on it when i bought it. looks like an ebay buy with a decent filter, though im about to replace it with the larger specctre air filter

i would like to find a way to reroute that a/c line though seeing its in the way where i will need to adjust the pipe for the larger filter, and also i wana get some thin metal to fabricate a divider for the filter from the engine

I'm just not a fan of the open air filters like that.. Honestly, I know this is an Acura, but I ran an open air filter and loss take off.. big time.. put a flat one back with the stock intake junk and just put in a bigger inlet tube and then got a little gain from it, in the higher RPM range where you need the most air..
Just saying what I seen in the past...
Ok.. So back to post topic for a brief moment..
I have purchased part one of my pet project, the Spectre 883901, and here are my first impressions.
1. 20.00 at AutoZone Vs. K & N @ 59.00 (Enough Said.. ROFL)
2. This thing is half a pound heavier than the K & N and personally, putting them side by side.. the filter it self looks more or less the same composition, and over all design.
3. The spectra (suppose due to weight) really feels a little more heavy duty.. the surround feels different from the K & N, just seems that you get this impression holding it.. comparing to the K & N model, like its going to last.. the K & N feels a tad bit cheap for that high price tag?
I'm sure K & N is a good product, matter of fact I know it is.. but just doing a comparison side by side, this is my honest feeling.. ontop of the 20 buck price tag.. I hope it does not let me down.. You know they say you get what you pay for.. but reviews online seem to indicate they are basically the same other than cost/name..
We shall see..
---------------------------
Step 2, design the system around the filter..
I am really considering my options on either having the inlet all the way to the front grille like I want or just opening up to allow fresh air to flow and making a walled off section to seperate the air box/inlet from the rest of the compartment.. then the excess can vent out through the side pannel..
Hm mm.. thinking I can aim the inlet towards the airflow so it can still get air forced in at higher speeds..
(WTF, it wont let me say virtu ally?

I'm not too happy.. right now.. I mean i figured i would really not see 'much' from a filter.. but I was going to walmart today with the new filter in and the dang thing felt like i was driving a V6 with no power.. like it was all boggy..
Well I took the truck out did some 'testing'
Here are some crappy vids:

Anyways.. I'm going to have to keep driving the truck.. It was really hella windy though, 60+ gusts I think the weather report said.

It was super windy.. I mean.. I just watched my 0-60 video and it was like 10/11 seconds.. I'm leaning more to 10.. (Video sucks)
I was watching the vids of the TC mods and with all those upgrades only sitting at like 9 seconds, I mean.. is investing all that money really worth 2 extra seconds? Its not like I'm going to be dragging this truck.. its a 4x4 ROFL.. but I do want to continue to work on this mod.. just cus..

I know when I did my intake I def gained a some power. I could tell on low end and high
