Well took a ride to camp and once again got stuck in my same spot as I did last year do to ice on the hill. Lucky I threw my winch on the back of my hitch so getting out was pretty easy now before I used my winch I tried to get out but got stuck in a icy snow pile cause I slid off the road. I thought it was fine but looking at it today it left some pretty good scratches they wont buff out its down to what looks like is primer(my truck is dirty so cant tell for sure) Any ideas? I dont have a lot of knowledge in fixing existing paint. I know napa can mix spray paint to match your color but will it match my paint? Ill clean the area really good and snap up a few pics here in a little.

 

If they are small scratches, you should be able to touch them up to where they won't be noticeable. If they are large I'm not really sure because I haven't ever fixed large scratches on anything. Let's see some pictures though.

Hard to say. I ran through a lot of trees and got the clearcoat scratches. They dont buff out. Icould prob just sand the clear and get it re-shot, but I will most likely see if my buddy can spray the whole truck...she's been good. she deserves it.

for scratches, Ive never seen a 'touch up' job look good. not without a lot of wet sanding/buffing.

 

Yeah my whole truck needs resprayed too actually it was re done before because there is a finger print in my paint where it meets my sliver and the cut off line for the sliver you can tell wasnt taped too good because its rough.

 

ive got some like that, not as bad as yours. i was going though some pine trees. mine go along the side of my truck.

 

The sad part is my woods beater has less scratches and the other bad part is I rarely take my truck down a tight trail camp doesnt count cause people take cars up there lol

 

Get some 1000 grit wet sandpaper and wet-sand it. If you start to see the scratches disappear, then move the grit to 1500 or 2000. It'll look hazy, but that's what buffing is for. Just make sure when you are wet-sanding, the water looks chalky =P

 

Good to know I would attempt it this weekend but its superbowl weekend so not enough time lol

 

I actually did color sanding on my hood to eliminate the orange peel. I can upload pictures of what the hood looked like before I buffed it. It kind of looks like one of those "Oh ****, how the **** am I going to fix this" moments. By the way...have you rubbed against the lines to try to feel how deep they are? I see at least 3 scratches that kind of worry me. Otherwise there's also a scratch repair method you can do using the dupli-color fix tube. First see what sanding does.
