Default why are my tires rubbing?!?

I have a 2000 4x4 with a 3" body lift and 265/70/17 tires and they rub on the back sides of the front wheel well at about 1/2 turn. How can people be running 33s with no rubbing and mine are around 30 and still rub? The only thing i can think of would be the backspacing of my rims, they stick out 1.25" or 1.5" further than stock (forgot which one) but i thought that would of helped with rubbing which is why i did it. Any help or advice would be great!!!

Thank you

My immediate thought is your backspacing. If you take a string, put it around a pencil, that would be a set radius. Imagine that to be the centerline of your stock rim rotation radius around your spindle. Now, if you add a flat piece perpendicular to it, this can simulate your tire path. If you increase, or decrease( I always get taht backwards) your backspacing, you will modify that path, and the effective radius(making it larger in this case).

So, If you have changed the wheels, it will affect the steering geometry of the truck. I think its odd with a 3" lift, but who knows. 1-1.5" over 30" is a good change.

Running stock wheels with 31s, I have no lift or TB crank, and Im fine. Rubbed for a week or ~100 miles only at full turn and compressing susp.

im running 265/75/r16 pro comp mud terrains on my 04 with stock rims and stock lift and havn't had any problems with rub...... if i were you and to try a quick fix (because i absolutely LOVE quick fixes) i would go to advanced auto or some place and get a set of wheel spacers that are only like 20 bucks down here a piece and slap them on really fast. if it still rubs then i don;t think it is your backspacing

Thanks for the replies, I was hoping to put 32s on but since I'm rubbing with these smaller tires I can only imagine it would be alot worse. So having the tires stick out further is actually going to make the fender rubbing worse? If anyone has 32s or bigger with wheels that are around 1.5" out further I would like to hear how you did this. I can't imagine I'm the only one who wanted a wider stance with bigger tires.

Thank you!

By the way it's not a terrible rub, but the corner of the wheel just barely hits the fender/mudflap when turned at a certain point
