Default Good deal at Advance

Advance Auto has a good deal on oil right now. I bought 5 quarts of snythetic blend Castrol and a Purolator Pure one filter for $20. (I actually I had to get a 6th qt since I have a 4.7). It's a $16 savings over what it would cost with out the deal. The filter was around $7 I think and the oil is normally $5.50 a qt.

Just thought I would share in case anyone is looking to change it soon or just is looking for a good deal. I don't need to change mine for awhile but it's a good deal for Castrol and a Pure one filter which is a great filter.

They also have Castrol Conventional and a regular Purolator filter for $17 and Castrol Syntec full synthetic and a Bosch filter for $27.

Sorry guys I get excited over good deals on oil

I only have about 1500 miles on my current oil but I figured 2 months from now when I go to change it, that deal won't be in effect anymore. If I had the money I would have gotten enough to do a couple changes.

Hopefully that deal is a nationwide thing too, not just NE.

I think it's nationwide, Advance has the same deals down here on Castrol too. I don't use Castrol but I do watch for deals on the Quaker State I use in my truck. Advance has deals pretty often on QS and the Purolator Classic filter that I use on my truck, usually 5 quarts and a filter for 12 or 13 bucks. I have enough oil and filters on hand right now to last me for the rest of the year. Advance does seem to run the best oil and filter combo sales. Pep Boys does too sometimes.

Is there something you don't like about Castrol? I don't usually run it, usually I run Valvoline synthetic blend, but this was a lot cheaper because of the deal. Both were $5.50 a qt. regularly.

I don't normally run Purolator filters either, normally I run WIX filters but I know Purolators are good filters too. Not sure who makes them...

Castrol is owned by BP. I don't like how BP handled the oil spill they caused in the Gulf of Mexico last year. And I don't like how they didn't follow all the rules and safety regulations and that is what led to the oil spill to begin with. Plus I think QS is a really good oil with a great add pack, especially when I can buy it in a combo deal for $2.16 per quart. Before I began using QS I used Valvoline White Bottle Conventional for a long time and Maxlife too. I also used Napa and Carquest house brand oil and Napa Proselect and CQ Red Label filters for a year or so, there was nothing wrong with them, either. The CQ and Proselect filters are both made by Wix to CQ and Napa's specs and they do fine for a 3000 mile oil change interval. I tried QS last summer and I like how my truck runs on it. It just runs quieter and smoother on QS. The filter media in a Purolator Classic is a bit better than the Proselect/CQ Red but the main reason I like the Puro Classic is the price. When I can cash in on the Advance sales, the filters cost me $2.16 each. Can't beat that price on a good quality filter. the one for my 3.9 is made here in the USA too.

Oh I didn't realize BP owned Castrol... Do you know who makes Purolator filters or do they actually make their own?

Got this address from a previous post about filters.
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oil...reference.html It really goes into details about who makes what and pros and cons of each type. address should say, oilfilters/reference.html, but didn't come out right when summited
