Default brakes feel... soft?

replaced most brake parts (most lines, front calipers, rotors, pads) and bled the system a few times and even had the stealer-ship bleed them. and i don't know if its normal, but the brakes still feel soft and it feels like it takes a lot of pressure to come to a complete stop. they don't go to the floor, and i haven't noticed any leaks. fluids full. i do hear a hiss of air when i pump them in park, could that be any indication of an issue?

Could be a brake booster going bad. Runs on vacuum, diaphrams go bad.

Lot of times the rear breaks will be out of balance with the front.. seems all the braking power coming from the front too.. IDK.. just throwing it out there.

Does it run rough when you have your foot on the brake? If so you are loosing vacuum and it is most likely the brake booster. When my booster failed, it went quickly,... had brakes, next time I pressed on the brakes I had to stand on the pedal to stop. Glad no one was in front of me or it would have been ugly.

If you used a different brand of pads, they could be a harder compound... (especially if you bought cheaper ones)

If that's the case, you will need to push the pedal down a bit harder to get the same result.

i'm stating to thinks its the brake booster. But i tried all the tests in the haynes manual, and it all seemed fine. one thing i've seen is that when in park, if i pump the brakes, the rpms will rise and fall. but if i hold it steady i don't really see a change.

The wife's VW golf stumbles and the RPM's drop when applying the brakes. Im thinking this is a common issue with a bad brake booster.
