so I have a buddy who is getting rid of a 98 ram with a 5.2. It needs bottom end work so he is getting rid of it real cheap. I'm thinking about buying it for a donor truck and drop the V8 into my dak. A 5.2 from 98 will be a straight up swap in my 2000 3.9 right? They are both 4x4 and auto.

 

eh, i am not to sure about that, it should mount right up, but idk about the wiring and such, sorry i couldnt help you more, ill give this thread a bump for you though

 

the mounts are more what I was concerned about, I was assuming I was going to have to swap the harness and computer too.

 

I thought you had to move the mounts when goin from a v6 to the v8?

 

The motor mounts are the same and the 3.9 is the 5.2 with 2 less cylinders thats all.

Mounts should be the same. Will need to run extra wires to the two additional injectors or get a new harness. New PCM. Use all of your existing sensors. Not sure, but you might be able to use the PCM from the 2000 in your Dak, but you will need to check. I am not up on the 96-2000 PCMs for the 5.2.

 

huh...thanks for the info guys. Still waitin to hear if he is even gonna sell it yet, sounded like a sure thing a few days ago.

 

thats why i said it should mount right up lol, because it should bolt right up no problem.
