Default a/c compressor into air compressor?

i have read on a couple ford and jeep sites about rigging my a/c compressor into an on board air system, i was wondering if anybody has ever done it on a dakota , and also does it eliminate your condensor? thanks

Just did this on my jeep all you do is get pipe fittings that fit both intake and exhaust on the compressor and just reduce it down to a standard air hose fitting. Then add a switch so you can manually turn on the compressor. Intake side you need a section of hose and route it where its not going to suck in water/dirt and dust you can add a air tool oiler or just every time you use it spray a little bit of oil in it. Then on the exhaust side add a hose you can then make that go to a tank for on board air or you can just use a hose. I went the hose route just because I dont need a tank its just to fill up tires. If I needed it to run air tools I could but most of the time you dont have proper parts to fix anyway. I also tested it to see how much air it could push out and I got up to 160 psi in a couple of min. This is using my stock a/c compressor no mods at all. I've saw guys use old york a/c compressor because of the internally oiling system and they are HD
