2000 Dakota 4.7 w/ a bad rightbank head??
Need some help from the guru's please.
I just bought a 2000 dakota 4door w/ a 4.7 for $1600
The pass side head is broke on the top side.
I found a set of 2001 heads for $300 and was going to get them tommorrow. After checking ebay and seeing some appilication years it shows for a 99 and 2000 that the head is different then of 2001
and up.
Couple of ?'s If theres any help for me.
Will the 2001 or 2002 heads wrk on the 01/2000 built 4.7? Can I put
other years of 4.7's in the 2000? Other eng models 5.2? 5.9? I guess the 5.2 and 5.9 electrics ,plugs etc wouldnt hook up being a different platform.
Please give me hope and options. I've wanted one of these trk's for along time.
I got alot of negative comments from my junk yard buddy and others on this motor. Wife fought me not to buy this trk and I assured her w/ getting the heads I found that I would be way ahead on this trk w/ just a lil money.

You can cross reference the part numbers from the different years on a parts website like rockauto.com . I checked out of curiosity and they have the same part number. I'm sure you'll be safe with the heads you have on hold. I do know that from 02-03 the engine was a 285cu.in. instead of the 287, but still the heads are the same. Double check the numbers yourself to be safe. If the heads are used they may need some machining. Best of luck.

Yes the heads are the same and will work.
Yes, they are the same from 99-2007. Only slight differences but have nothing to do with heads unless you look as HO motors or the 2008 and newer 4.7L.
JTECH PCM engines 1999-2002(3-plug PCM) 16-tooth tone ring.
NGC PCM engines 2003-2007 (4-PLUG PCM) 32-tooth tone ring.
