Angry P1682

99 v6 dakota.....engine light code is P1682. I have a new battery and the alternator has been checked. I check volts and my gauge holds at right about 12 or a hair under.

I'm almost out of ideas on this...I am thinking maybe PCM but ????

With the engine running, you should see 14 volts or better on the gauge. If the alternator tests ok in and of itself, then, PCM it is.... Regulator is in the PCM. Not what I consider a good idea.... but, chrysler NEVER consults me when thinking up stuff like this......

Thanks...I figured a much...a replacement is in the mail. Can I just bolt the new PCM in or will I have to had it reprogrammed?

I believe the procedure is to have it flashed to your vin. Which means you would have to take it to a dealership. Cost varies, i paid $70 to have mine flashed, but i have heard of it being done for less or even free. Just depends on the mood of the dodge tech. All they have to do is hook it up to a programmer looking thing for 20-odd minutes.
