Default Issue when accelerating

Hey all, I have a 2000 R/T 5.9L that is having a little issue when I'm accelerating from a stop. For example, I'll be sitting at a red light, light will go green, and I'll start to accelerate. If I keep my foot light, the truck will rev to 3000 rpm before it shifts into second. If I'm heavy on the throttle, it will rev to 4000+ rpm until it shifts in to second.

I've had the tranny fluid/filter changed, and it still has the problem. Does anyone have any idea as to what would cause the truck to rev so high while accelerating?

TIA

I should add that here is no check engine light, either.

got the same issue on my 2000 r/t. took it to tranny shop adjust T.V cable, throttle clearance even hooked up comp to it, nothing. give it about 2-3 weeks and you'll notice it slipping. unfortuntaly your tranny is going out. baby it and you can make it last a while, otherwise get 3k out for new tranny or rebuild

sorry budd you can reach me at aperdue@legedarymarine.com if you got any more questions. i dont go on this site alot

My buddy's 97 Dakota is doing the same thing so I'm going to take a look at it to see if I can figure out if something is malfunctioning. Did you say 3k for a tranny rebuild that is insane. I saw a rebuilt tranny on craiglist for $500.

I would try the tv cable it might also be your tps. Even if your tanny is slipping dont worry about it mine has been for the past 25k and Im hard on my truck still acts the same as it did when it started. I will never pay 3k for a trany rebuild either!! I can do a 5 speed swap for about a grand so when my auto goes the 5 speed is going in.

Great, thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to try adjusting the tv cable first, and then go from there!

lol... It's called ask the guy for paper work, receipts, and record of rebuild at facility. I would never buy any auto parts without knowing the story behind it or DOP.
