Default 'Quiet' freeflow exhaust?

Wanting to change (read get rid of) the stock exhaust on my '01 Dak sport (4.7). Factory muffler has popped a seam from rust and it's time to let her breathe alittle better.

After doing a LOT of reading and searching here and elsewhere, all the after market systems/homemade systems work well but are louder than damn it.........lol, I'm gettiing too old I guess. Looking for something that won't rattle out what little brains I have left.

What I've come up with so far:

Flowmaster single in dual out. WAY to loud. (Heard this setup in person)

Magnaflow cat back systems. Way to much $$, but if i have too........Don't know how loud they are though.

Having the local shop install high flow cats in place of precats, Flowmaster y pipe, and a 'turbo' muffler (Thrush or some such).

Thoughts? Any recomendations on high flow cats? Other than Spintech ofcourse

Thanks

David

well if you replace the cats with high flows and put any muffler other then stock it would be a big diff from stock. and i dont think it would be to quiet.

Higher flow = less resistance = more noise. Youll almost have to put a double muff on if you want to keep it quiet. I can sell you my stock muffler for a good price

Otherwise, I would have to say Flowmaster 50-80 series. I have a Deltaflow 40, and it is quieter than a super40. Its nice for long rides, but still has a rumble. Thats with stock Cats tho. Spot me a grand, I'll be the guinnea pig

Otherwise, Gibson or Magnaflow I cant speak for...Just get some eBay dynamat, pull the interior and put the exhaust out the back...you'll get used to it...

The Magnaflow muffler has a nice tone to it, not load unless your foot finds the floorboard, and has a somewhat quiet sound, but you still know its a V8 under the hood.

My hooker aero is very quite for an aftermarket muffler. Too quite for me, but probably perfect for you. It is just slightly louder than stock and is more free flowing. It does have a nice sound and tone to it, but quite. It's a SI SO 2.5"

bpark: the Aero seems like what I'm looking for....have to check into that

ramguy: did your kit delete the 3rd cat and plug in after the stock y or does it go all the way to the back of the precats?

thunder: did you get the magnaflow y to fit or did you go with the flowmaster? Any advice on mounting the spintechs in place of the stock precats?

Thanks for the responses

P.S. Just how much low end am I gonna lose if I open up the exhaust?? I can think of only 3 times my Dak has been to 5k on the tach, mainly want to do this to help when I pull with it so killing bottom end is not a good thing...............

The system is a cat back system so from the cat back it replaces eveything. It doesnt delete the cat. I am only running a cat now and I didnt loose that much low end.
