regret it only when you need/want 4wd and don't have it haha and like I said in the other thread they don't shift to bad its just kinda longish. the hurst shifter really helps it out a ton. i've always had to goto second before first when at a red light or stop and have gotten used to it as well as fifth first before going into reverse...it seems to go in hard if I dont do that.

I've drove a dakota 5 speed and comparing it to the two dump trucks I drove(96 ford and a 06 chevy) and dakota was nothing like it tho the chevy felt like it it was just as fast lol

A clutch will not make it shift different. If my stock clutch can hold 7PSI of boost, you do not need an aftermarket clutch (yes they are available).

The "dump truck" comparison comes from the ratios, it's a truck tranny, not a sports car tranny. 1st is pretty low at 4:1 and the 2-3 shift is a pretty big jump. I had a Hurst and got rid of it. For a toy it would be fine but every day it got old. It's noisy and the shorter throw translates to more shift effort. I can shift with the stock shifter just as fast or faster, granted it's not as pretty or firm and positive feeling.

not saying your experience was bad but the longer, rough feeling of the stocker compared to the shorter, more solid feel of the hurst is what made it the best $200 bucks i've ever spent. yes first and second are pretty low compared to 3rd, 4th and 5th but the benefits of the hurst once you get used to the solid feeling of it are def worth it imo.

Not for me. The noise and extra shift effort got old every day. It also made it difficult to get into gear from a stop (like you described). I can still chirp 3rd with the stock shifter. The look and feel of the chrome Hurst shift lever and black **** can't be beat though. I attempted to buy just the lever from someone on another forum to adapt to the stock shifter but it got lost in shipping so that idea went out the window.

I don't mind the shifting on these trucks at all really. Mine shifts smoothly. The hardest part for me is my throttle is really touchy which can make smooth shifts a little difficult sometimes but not by fault of the tranny but the throttle cable/linkage.

Anyone else notice their throttle being 'touchy' so to speak? Or just me?
