Default Bellhousing Differences?

I am looking into swapping my 42RE out for a 44RE to put behind my 3.9. Are the bellhousings the same? Are the sensors the same? I am looking to upgrade as I am buying a new camper and the extra weight I dont think the little tranny will take.

Yes the bellhousings are the same as long as the new transmission came from a 5.2 V8 Magnum. As long as the weight is within the towing recommendations for your exact truck you will be fine with your stock transmission. Unless you have transmission problems right now.

Well since you are swaping in a tranny might as well get a v8 to go with it lol. The 42re would handle is but its not as HD as the 44re(its not even that great either) but it will hold up for a longer time depending how much your pulling.

Well, my truck has the towing package, but I am starting to have more problems with my tranny even after the rebuild so I am looking at getting a crate tranny since it is about the same price as a rebuild. As far as the V8, I have a 5.2 sitting in the garage but the motor is still running really well, so I will wait to swap that lol

You might be better to find a cheap one and have it rebuilt with hd/better internals. There is also the use of 46re's Im not sure if you can just swap them in like the 44(i would think same tranny just more HD) Well if your 3.9 is still good sell that to fund your v8 swap haha. I know when I pull our 20foot double axle trailer behind my truck I can tell its there big time.

Well I sold the tandem axle pop up I had and bought an 18' hybrid, it only has 350 lb tounge weight and weighs in at 2800 lbs, but that is before adding water, food, the kids bikes, etc. The 5.2 I have rebuilt and and will have a 5 speed behind it, but I really want to keep the 6 cylinder until it blows lol
