Default Power door lock retrofit

Anyone ever added power door locks to a DAK that came without them?
Are the plugs attached to the harness, or would it be a hack job to add them?

Thanks

David

im not sure if the factory wiring is in the door or not, but you can always add an aftermarket system. i add power locks to cars all the time, really isnt to hard. not sure if you have a 2 or 4 door. 2door kits start around $80 and 4 door kits around $110. if you want to add a keyless entry add another $60 or so. this is just for the product, your time will be needed for the install. it may take you 4-8 hrs depending on your experience. call around to a local install shop for pricing if your not comfortable doing it yourself.

The factory power door lock mechanism is part of the door latch assembly. To add factory power locks you would have to replace both latch assemblies, which is probably expensive. There is no door lock wiring in the door if the truck does not have power locks from the factory. Plus you would have to add the factory power door lock switches and an upgraded Central Timer Module.

You can add door lock actuators to the door locks you already have. Those are just a simple 2-wire reverse polarity door lock motor. They cost about $20.00 each at Best Buy or any good car audio/alarm shop. You have to run your own wires from the actuators to the relays that control them, and you will need a module like an aftermarket keyless entry system or an alarm to operate the door locks. If you just want to have power locks without keyless entry you can wire two relays to operate the actuators and wire in a toggle switch to control the relays.

It is not hard to do. I installed door lock actuators and a Viper alarm on my truck when I first bought it 5 years ago and it all works fine. If you have a basic alarm or keyless entry installed it will cost probably $150.00 to $300.00 depending on where you live and who or which shop does the work. If you do it yourself you could buy all the parts for maybe $100.00 or even less depending on where you buy them.

Thanks guys, figured that would be the answer.......I can do the work, just don't have the time nor the money (right now) to have some one do it for me.......saving up for HO cams and intake as well as full exhaust.....

Oh well, add this to the list with the power sliding rear window
