2wd-4wd coversion with 1500 axles?
With a cuttin torch and a welder i dont see why not, i had a friend put the axles and suspension out of a 79 power wagon under his jeep wrangler for your same reason. I aint heard of anyone using the 1500 axles on a dakota though so hopefully someone else will chime in.
i got torches and welders
but ive seen people do it with axles out of broncos and jeeps and toyotas but i want them out of a ram to give me the width id prob have to cut and re weld the brackets on the axle but thats okay id rather keep it dodge than droppin f#@%#$ over rebuilt dodge or chevy... axles in it
Are you trying to get an independent front suspension or solid front suspension. If it's the former I would suggest selling your truck and just buying a 4x4 as the cost of doing the swap will cost as much as or more than a 4x4 dakota. If you want a solid front axle youre going to have to find a solid axle that has a driver side bias (not sure if thats technically correct terminology). With all that said if you have good fabricating skills anything can be done. Also one last thing if its for looks only there are some lifts for 2wd dakotas that can be done up to look sweet
