I have replaced the gas cap three different times, and restart the codes each time. I checked the tubes off the cannister & evap service port. All looks good. My garage failed it for the emission part of the inspection sticker. They said they will do a smoke test and fix it for $100 or so.
I want to fix this myself if possible.

Should I replace the three rubber tubes coming off the evap service port? Can I soap the tubes and if it bubbles bad?
The hoses are fine. Now what?
What about the unit itself? Or is it something else?

just had mine repaired last week. just take it to the dealer. there is a valve on top of the gas tank which can leak. then there is a hose from that valve to a charcoal canister which can leak. then the canister can leak. then a hose from the canister to a valve just forward of the canister whick can leak. the valve can leak, then a hose from the valve to the solenoid under the hood, which can leak, then the solenoid can be bad, then another hose from selonoid to tbi which can leak as you said they smoke test it and narrow it down quickly. mine was the valve on top of the tank 163.00
The hose coming from the canister to the top of the fuel tank. Is there supposed to be any play in it? How hard is it to remove from the top of the tank? Any risks?
