Default Spark Plugs

I need to replace the spark plugs in my truck. I was wondering what would be the best way to go. Truck is a 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with a 4.7l v8.

I installed the OEM Champion plugs in my 4.7. I have always had the thought of always using OEM parts where you can.I also know that other people might have other ideas on this, but the Factory parts have been tested in these trucks and that is what I like to use

Definitely use the Champion copper gapped to 0.040.
Do NOT use platinums in these engines, period! These engines do not operate well with them.

I have the same truck, a quad 01 4.7. I tried some of the fancy new plugs with disateress results. Finally used the champion copper and the truck runs like new.
So yes stick with oem plugs.

"Best" is a relative term. For example, I only use NKG platinums in my wife's Jetta, but would never use them in my Durango. Unless you have significant internal mods, should stick with OEM. On a side note, I will say that some people have good luck with iridium plugs on the 4.7 motors. I'm not certain about the 3.9, 5.2 or5.9 though. Nonetheless, you'll still need to replace them as often.

whats the part number for the champion copper core plugs? I thought the magnum engines ran better with a plug one heat range colder and gapped at .040?

i run the NGK's just like the 2 dollar each ones and have had no problems with them, gapped at .040. and N1CK next time do a search on this, im sure the "which spark plug to use" has been a thread probably a thousand times. im just sayin
