Default interchange info

hello guys new here i just bought a 2000 quad cab with a 3.9 automatic for 300 dollars has a rod knocking was going to do a 360 swap but the truck is too nice and id really like to have somethin that gets more than 6 mpg so i was goin to jus throw another 3.9 in does anyone know what years will work

3.9 vs 5.2 mpg is pretty much the same. The 5.9 might be a mpg less depending on your setup. Some of the 5.9 rt guys here are getting better mpg than I am but they are 2wd.

do a v8 as long as you are going to do an engine swap, pointless to swap a v6, 5.2 is your best bet IMO. but maybe somebody else can answer this, would a 5.2? i know 2000 was the transition year and thats when the 4.7 was available, so maybe somebody can clarify?
