Default M1 Intake Questions

Which intake would get me the biggest increase in fuel economy? I was contemplating the M1 or possibly the FI Air Gap. Fuel economy is not AS important as performance, but I would like to get the best fuel economy out of it to justify me buying it. I do not currenty own a Dakota, but I will be buying a second generation with either a 318 or a 360. Thanks!

Both increase performance/airflow over the factory kegger style intake manifold.

Along with a new throttle body and exhaust setup you will see better numbers performance and mpg wise. Keeping your foot out of it will the the biggest problem.

~400 for the intake manifold, ~350 for the TB, ~800 for full exhaust setup (going off what I spent). Total 1550$ to maybe see a small increase in MPG. Not worth it. Just put a 1in plastic plate under the gas pedal and save yourself 1545$...

Either will net a possibly small MPG gain. IMO the best simple bolt on for MPG/cost ratio is the 1.7 roller rockers. Don't expect a MPG gain from anything you do, just be happy if you get one. IMO the M1(or Airgap) is not complete without a performance tune to get back the loss of low end torque.

eh you guys can be kill joy's.... I took my 2000 ram from ~11.8-12 mpg up to 14's, 15 on a golden day...

If your going to mod for performance & mpg, do mods that will let it breath better down low, low end torque is your best friend. keep the exhaust to a single 3" or dual 2.25" max. Get a fastman TB, keep your kegger but consider modding it. IIRC the M1 lost low end but gained top end. great for the strip but not for fuel economy.

The 1.7 rollers were one of the best mods I did to my truck...

I saw no increase or decrease in gas use with the M1 or 1.7 rollers, but i do love my M1 and Mopar rollers. Great products zero install probs with both products.
