Default Normal operating temp

Hey all. 2000 4.7. My question is what does your temp gauge read on a 80-85 deg day? Mine hovers around 220. On a cooler day it stays around 195. Thermostat need to be r&r'd? This is the first warm spell since i've owned this truck and kind of concerned. Looks like an easy enough change.

swap in a 180 tstat and you will be in better shape. but it shouldnt be 220 with your clutch fan i dont think.

Think I figured it out. If engine is "hot", I shouldn't easily be able to spin fan, should I? Fan clutch?

when i had my clutch fan on it would run just left of center never got hotter than that. now i run a 180 tstat and efan that comes on early to keep it really cool. but with my old setup it never got straight up and down. always left of center. 210ish is straight up and thats when the pcm tells the efan to come on (for thoes of us who have stock efans.)

mine runs around 190-195 without the clutch fan...it will go up to maybe 210 if i stop for more than 10 seconds or so but the efan kicks on and it goes right back down within 30 seconds
