Default Adding Power Windows

Hello, I am normally over at the Ram section, however my father has a 2003 Dodge Dakota SXT thats bone dry, no power anything. He wants to put power windows in the truck, getting a set of used regulators, door panels, and switches are not an issue, my local junkyard has a **** load of Dakotas that I can take them from. I was wondering if the wiring harness was already installed from the factory to hook it up, or would I need to wire it myself?

You are better off to get a kit online that has all that included. You will have to run your own wires. You will also need a ctm for your truck so it knows to control the windows. Its a lot bigger project than you think. At least with a add a kit they know you will be installing in a vehicle that doesnt have power windows so they will have it set up so you dont have to drill a bunch of holes and figure out how to mount it.

Comes with everything you need.

There is a company called SPAL that makes very good quality aftermarket power windows. I have worked with them in the past, they work very well and usually last a long time without much trouble. Check this out, if you decide to use a SPAL kit there is a dealer locator at the bottom of the page:

You are much better off going aftermarket. As dodgeramguy pointed out, you would need a new high-line CTM and a lot of other OEM parts and wiring to add factory power windows. Just the new CTM alone would cost a lot more than the SPAL kit or any other brand of electric windows you buy. There is no electric window or door lock wiring in the doors if the truck did not come with power locks and windows from the factory. You will need to run your own wires into each door for an aftermarket electric window kit but that is a whole lot easier than trying to install a factory harness and all the parts that go with it.

This has everything you'd want to know. Be forewarned: it's not for the faint of heart...
