Smile 2002 Dodge Dakota 3.9L V6 oil change

I was just wondering what people think about which oil to use for 2002 dakota 3.9 v6, Im planning on doing an oil change and I am going to use the K&n oil filter but I just need to know what oil is best for my engine (115,000 Miles) any opinion is welcome, thank you.

In my 02 3.9 with 127k, I run regular 10 w30. My oil filter is a STP, I did the oil change about 1,000 miles ago. It runs fine on conventional oil.

I use Quaker State conventional 10W30 in my truck. It runs great on it, has good power and decent gas mileage for a 3.9. I use a Purolator Classic filter, it works very well and I get good oil pressure and flow. Wix is a great filter too, one of the best you can buy in the 5 to 6 dollar price range. The K&N is good filter but there are other filters that will work just as well for less money. Any oil should work fine as long as you change it on schedule. I have never used any synthetic oil. My truck has 144,600 miles on it now.

You can learn a lot about oil, filters, maintenance and a lot of other good automotive stuff at www.bobistheoilguy.com. It's a good site but you can get overloaded on info there.

As an ASE master tech I will say this. You will never get an unbiased answer to which oil is best. I do know this however, pennzoil, quaker-state, and super-tech (being that they are all the same.) Will NEVER see use in my truck, I run Castrol GTX with a mopar filter every 2500 miles. My wifes mini-van gets Mobil 1 with an AcDelco filter. I try and stay oe spec on filters. As far as synthetic oil goes, I look at it like this. It was designed for aviation use. Motors that went from extreme heat to extreme cold rapidly and repeatedly. They also ran for many hours on end. Most automotive engines are not subject to that treatment.

I had a Valvoline class in vo tech last year and had a video and guy came in from valvoline explaining why there product is better then the other brands and what goes into it that doesnt go into it. I use max life valvoline 10w-30 and a mopar filter. Its the only thing ill ever put into my truck. You will get tons of different reviews on this so really its personal choice.
