Default Transmission or TPS?

I bought my 2001 Dakota Sport Club Cab 4X4 new and am starting to have problems with it. While driving at steady speed, the RPM's go from 1800 to 2000. I don't have any stored codes so I am not sure where to start. I have a 4.7L with the 45RFE trans at 193,000 miles, thanks.

The problem you are describing is exactly the same I had a year or so ago. The tach would jump 200 or so RPM while highway crusing. So I went to NAPA and bought a new TPS and been driving ever since with no tach bounce.

I have the same problem....2003 4.7, it's the torque converter locking and unlocking in overdrive. I'll try the TPS too.

wouldnt i be more than 200 rpms? when im in D at 70, the go to pass someone i swich od off and it goes from 2k to 3k in 3rd gear, then floor it so it doesnt have to do the double downshift from OD to 2nd prime.

Put the new TPS in today and the converter does not lock and unlock in overdrive (400 rpm surge) during steady driving any more.

The difference between the converter locking and unlocking in overdrive is about 400 rpm.
