Auto to manual tranny swap?
I am quite a few of you have made this swap in the past and was wondering around how much would it cost to do it and would it be worth it if my slush box goes? I know i would need tranny, clutch assembly(pedals and all) and assuming the flywheel would need changing as well as getting the slave cylinder. Sorry if this has been beaten to death. I have a 2004 Crew cab 4wd with electronic shift t-case.
increased pressure, and when you chirp gears, its more pressure and wear on the clutches and gears. Not going to lie and act like i wouldnt be doing it if I had an auto, but you cant justify it with half truths is all im saying.
I havent read much on it, but isnt the mod just electronic? unless you put a modifier in your fluid, or polish something, orchange a material, friction doesnt magically disappear. Parasitic losses happen regardless what you do. If they didnt, we wouldnt care what gas costs...

Well i bought the truck used and honestly the tranny isnt acting up or anything. Just never been fond of the reliability of automatics in Dodges especially. I was just wondering how much of a chore it was. From past experience if you leave stuff like it was from the factory it tends to last longer unfortunately.
Very true. Like I said...beef up/rebuild when time comes time to replace, if it does. Otherwise, enjoy.
Id love to put a Hemi 6spd in, but yea, I dont have that time/money/devotion. or a diesel. blah. too many wants! hahah...good luck..

the guys in the 3G secion all use the Superchips TM to remove torque mgmt, basically what Im doing with my sonnax but they can adjust each shift. it firms shifts so there is less slippage or friction. less friction means less heat, heat is the #1 killer of transmissions. i have never heard of anyones trans going to hell after using the sonnax. even blown297's trans held up fine with the sonnax right before he rebuilt it.
