Default A little help

Hello all,
I am a new member, I know ill probably be ragged on but i have a 2.5 kota. Not my first choice but my Grand cherokee was stolen and i had to scrape to buy something. Something to last until im done with college. Dont get me wrong, I love the truck to death, but the power is dissapointing. Im doing what i can on a low budget starting with a 2/3 drop and custom cold air. Little stuff when i can. Im looking to upgrade on exhaust because i think the restriction is holdin me back a some, but i worried that if i do its gonna come out sounding like a ricer. Im also planning on dropping it more sometime and hopefully getting some better looking rims. Cosmetics come second. Anyway, Any suggestions or personal experiences to help out the old four banger would be appreciated. Also im getting a little chirping from the engine, sounds near the lifters but i could be wrong... any help?
Does anyone else on here even have a four banger?

dude no offense but wtf man if ur talking about performance upgrades concentrate on boltons before you drop 1200-1400 on a 2-3 drop. Start with cold air then exhaust then if they make them chip, throttle body, throttle body spacer, and headers, then you can worry about the cosmetic BS at a much later time.

TB spacers are a total waste. The 4 banger is near hopeless w/o throwin' a ton of money at it... 'n it still won't run with the V6's... much less the V8's. Save yer bucks 'til you can upgrade. Just keep it clean 'n well maintained in the meantime.

Nah, see i already have the drop kit on the truck, it was goofy looking so i had to do something, i bought the kit from a friend who had it on his 97 for like a month and hated it, so i got it for about 100 bucks. trust that i wouldnt be throwing down the biggins for that. I dont have much cause im in college so im looking for cheap. I built a cold air and now im lookin into a 4.0 throttle body and exhaust. I said that cosmetics was later because it needs a great deal of those. Im not looking to hang with anyone at this point, im just looking to pull a little more power out of there because i know it has more than im getting. but thanks anyway

Alright, What turbo? Ive looked a little into it and found that older turbos off of le barons or maybe a caravan could work but im not sure about the compression. any knowledge on that?

oh yes...the junk yard turbo. An old favorite of mine. Try http://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/ for info an that wonderful thing. Keep in mind its mostly honda guys there. Since you have a 4 banger they will be able to help u. Don't be scared of forced induction. Its not complicated. Just figuring out how to add more fuel and reprogram ur computer is the only hard thing. i don't know what the compression ratio is but i doubt its 9/1 or 10/1 or even 11/1 like hondas are. it shouldn't be a problem. the thing you have to worry about is connecting rods and such. if they are small and thin, they will break. its a good idea to tear it all down and do a rebuild, check it out, measure your compression befor installing a turbo.

also, the amount of power ur can can from I/H/E is so minimal its not worth the time and money. u won't even really notice it to tell ya the truth. Maybe on the bigger v8's and stuff it makes a bigger difference, but just get intake and exhaust and leave it alone. if your struggling for cash then don't waste money on the engine unless u want to go all out.
