Please help me on this,(2002 dodge dakota 3.9 v6 4x4) I was talking to someone and they said I should get a high flow cat, would it be better to keep the stock cat or get the high flow, before I was just going to get the flowmaster 40 1 in 2 out, also how many cats does the 02 dakota 3.9 have and if I do decide to get high flow will I have to replace each stock cat with a high flow, I would really like some help on what to do, also what do you think about just gutting the stock cats?

I wouldn't gut the Cat. myself. Your truck should only have one Cat. converter. If you're thinking of replacing the converter, definitely get a highflow one. I suggest a Magnaflow HighFlow Catalytic Converter.
As for your muffler. The Flowmaster 40 series are a very good choice, however, keep in mind that the lower number in series you go (30, 20) the louder the exhaust will be, so if you want a bit more racket, go down a series. I'm not very well versed yet on the effect of the dual out or single out, so I can't comment on that.

I get the impression that California is real strict on emissions, but I don't think that affects how many Cats. you have. I want to say you only have 1 Cat. per tail pipe. Same with mufflers.
