Key Fob Help
Hey Guys,
I recently purchased a used '01 Dakota Quad Cab. It didn't come with a remote for the door locks. I checked with Dodge and the factory 'print out' for the VIN indicates the truck is equipped with GXRP Keyless Entry. I took the truck to a local lock and key business to buy a remote and have it programmed. Their programmer would not work. Anybody know what circuit it runs on so I can check the fuse? Any other likely causes? The power door locks do work...just not from the fob. Any and all idea's are welcome. Thanks!!

The factory keyless entry system is an internal part of the Central Timer Module. You have to teach the remote control to the CTM. If you do not have a functioning remote, you might be able to have it programmed at the Dodge dealer. They can use the DRB III scan tool to teach your remote control to the existing keyless entry system. I have heard of others who tried a locksmith for programming and it did not work for them either.
Before going to to the dealer though, maybe try this procedure. I have no idea whether it really works but it's worth a shot before paying the dealer:

Hope it works for you.
