Default Starting problems

Video will explain more, despite it being far more rare and actually starting within 4-5 seconds compared to 6-8 seconds of cranking.

I've replaced the battery, replaced the starter motor, fuel pump and lines are still in nearly new condition, tried turning it on until the fuel pump was done priming multiple times before starting, but none of it seems to work.

EVERY time, it will crank for 4-6 seconds, then if I let off and crank again, it starts immediately. If I don't do the second crank within a minute or two it will revert to the original condition.

Anyone had similar issues?

CPS replaced, and $40 down the drain.

Any other ideas?

Just wondering if you ever found out what the problem was with your intermittent starting problem. I have a 2001 Dakota that is doing the same thing.

Sounds like unwanted fuel in the cylinders. Any black smoke when it does start? This would be an indication of gas in the cylinders when starting. Leaking fuel injector or injectors maybe. Fuel pump regulator but you've already replaced the fuel pump which I assume has a built in regulator. Check for the smoke.

Sounds like a leaking fuel injector or fuel injectors. Just fought the problem you described on my 4.7l. Ended up being a slightly leaking injector on #8 cylinder.
